1. Is it required that I belong to a local church to advertise in the directory?

Although it is not required, it is encouraged that every Christian advertiser be a part of a local church body. “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.(Heb10:25). Believer’s fellowship becomes even more important as time goes forward and the Day approaches. 

2. Do we offer a printed directory?

People prefer online and mobile friendly solutions for answers. So there is no printed directory at this time. This also promotes being a good steward of our environment. We do produce a small quantity of business cards, flyers, window stickers, bookmarks and posters which sometimes are printed on recycled paper. A printed directory would be considered only if there are substantial requests from the community. 

3. Are there any existing Christian directories?

Yes – there are a few national Christian Business directories and many “Congregation” specific ones out there, but not with the functionality and support that’s needed at a local level. We created this directory out of our personal need to find and support Christian businesses and to refer people to Christian nonprofits in SLO & Santa Barbara Counties. We are a local christian business and we support the local christian community. 

4. How do you know that members of the directory are Christians?

We don’t – only God knows for sure. Every Christian business, and Christian nonprofit is asked to agree to the Statement of Faith page before committing to the listing. If you are reading this and you are not sure if you are a Christian, please contact us or go to the “Do you know Jesus” page on the directory website. We are more than happy to share God’s plan of salvation with you!

5. How much does it cost to advertise?

Our prices are listed on our “Join Now” page located in the main menu. Also, remember that the listed prices are for a full year of advertising. You shouldn’t have to pay an arm and a leg for quality online advertising and it’s our goal to make this service affordable for all size businesses.

6. How much does it cost to list our ministry in the directory?

We list Christian Churches and nonprofit ministries in the directory for free. If you are a local Church or Christian nonprofit that is not currently listed and would like to be, please visit our “Join Now” page for your free listing.  We will notify you via email when your listing has been approved.

7. Is the directory affiliated with any Church, Denomination or other organization?

CCCBD is nondenominational and is not affiliated with any specific Church or organization. CCCBD is nonpolitical and works to promote Christian businesses, Churches and Christian nonprofits in San Luis Obispo and Northern Santa Barbara counties.

8. What is the process to join the directory?

We realize you are busy, so we will keep the registration process simple. We ask is that you read the Statement of Faith page and agree with it before you register and also read the directory disclaimer at the bottom of Homepage. It takes less than 5 minutes to register and takes about 15 minutes to complete your membership profile. We also offer one-on-one assistance over the phone or in person to help you get going.  We also provide an advertiser option if you would like us to do all of the work to make your listing into a fully functional mini-website. We can populate the listing for you with the information you provide us or information from your website or Social Media profile.  Remember we are local, and we are here to support YOU and make the listing process quick and easy.  

9. What if I have used a company from the directory and they do unsatisfactory work?

We appreciate you letting us know either by phone or email of any unacceptable work or behavior you have witnessed. We also monitor any reviews listed on the directory. We will take your experience into consideration when renewing a business the following year. If we get multiple credible complaints about a particular business, we will remove them from the directory ASAP.

10. Do I need a Business License to be listed in the directory?

We ask all businesses to list their business license number if they have one. We also understand that there are established businesses that operate as Independent Contractors such as some gardeners, house cleaners, real estate brokers etc. If you fall into this category, simply list “Independent Contractor” in the Business License field of your online application.
To assure that valid businesses and services are listed in the directory, we reserve the right to validate business licenses and request documentation or other references in which to complete our validation process.

11. What is the response from advertising in the directory?

Obviously, members will get different responses from advertising in the directory depending upon their type of business, featured advertising, and the amount of time they have been advertising in the directory. We monitor the activity received on your listing and you too will have access to that information. 

We actively promote the directory on social media and with churches, local organizations, local chambers, community clubs, and at local events. Word of mouth is the most powerful tool, so please let others know about us.

12. What if my business category is not listed?

No worries. Although we have major categories of business/services listed, we can always add a category or keywords to your listing that will help consumers find your unique product/s, programs, or services. Our directory is like a Google search for local Christian Businesses.

13. Can individuals (in business) be listed in the directory?

Yes, if you are licensed and in business for yourself. If you are an independent broker, realtor, etc. you can be listed under your name if you wish.

14. I am not a technical person and/or I don’t have time to fill out my directory page. What now?

We are here to help and ensure your listing success. Remember, we are local and we are happy to receive your call or meet with you and set-up your listing. We provide up to 1 hour of free set-up assistance. If you have extensive photo galleries or video libraries to upload, we can assist at an additional charge.

15. Can I link my personal directory page to my existing website or share on Social Media?

Absolutely! The directory can link to all of your social media. For those who do not have a website – when you create your listing with us, you are essentially creating a personal website. You will also have your own URL to your directory listing to share on your business cards, website, Facebook, etc. Our directory is a great solution for those businesses who don’t have a personal website because you are creating an internet presence through the directory.
